Friendly House hosts four special events to support its programs and services.

Recognition of Excellence Scholarship Awards

For more than a decade, Friendly House has been providing scholarships to high school students who want to further their education and are the first in their families to have the opportunity to go to college. Last year Friendly House awarded $1,000 scholarships to 50 deserving Hispanic youth.

Every year more than 200 Maricopa County high school students apply for these scholarships. Through the efforts of a community-based selection committee, the scholarship recipients are chosen based on the following criteria:

  • First generation in their families to pursue a secondary education
  • Grade point average and academic achievements
  •  Community service and involvement
  •  Financial need

The number of available scholarships is dependent upon the number of sponsors attained to support the program. Sponsors are honored at the awards dinner through personal recognition by the student and their parents who will be seated at each sponsor-hosted table. These personal moments confirm the value of each sponsor’s contribution.

Annual Tamale Dinner

For nearly 75 years, the Friendly House Tamale Dinner has provided a cultural tradition. A magical evening filled with Mexican music and song, folkloric dancers, pageantry and history – something the whole family can enjoy. And, of course, tamales!

Golf Tournament
A number of sponsorship opportunities are available for this event. Each sponsorship level offers unique promotional benefits for companies as well as special tournament benefits for your golfers. Played on Whirlwind Golf Club’s two separate, but equal courses.  Participants enjoy a day of fun, good food, friendship, and fabulous prizes.

Fiesta de Friendly House
Recognized as Arizona’s premier Hispanic culinary and wine tasting affair of the year, revelers enjoy some of the best cuisine, wines and premium beers, while enjoying a wonderful evening with friends at Corona Ranch. The evening includes a silent auction and ends with the Baile de Amigos, featuring live music and a DJ. Friendly House showcases the Fiesta as its premier event.
