Recognition of Excellence
Scholarship Awards February 7, 2008
Thanks again to our beneficent sponsors, and special thanks to our signature sponsor,
Wells Fargo, for another exciting year for deserving students.
This year's Recognition of Excellence Awards saw 48 high school seniors receive $1,000 scholarships to apply toward their college education. Each year, through the generosity of organizations and companies throughout our city, we are able to honor exceptional youth in the community - many of whom are the first in their family to pursue a post-secondary education. Since the Awards program was started, we have steadily increased the number of scholarships awarded -- all through the help of sponsors who believe in the power of investing in tomorrow’s leaders. Thank you!
Taking place at the Hyatt Regency, the evening was filled with food, friendship, introductions, laughter and a peek into the achievements of the youth we were there to honor. We also recognized three outstanding educators through APS’ Partners in Education Awards for their dedication to excellence in the field. This year’s honorees include Francheska Figueroa, Maria Herrera and Marisela Hoover. The many smiles and hugs were a testament to the enormous pride felt by families, students, sponsors, educators and other supporters.
We hope to continue to grow this vital, inspiring Scholarship program and invite you to come on board as a sponsor by contacting the Corporate & Community Relations office at 602-416-7209.
