
Integrated Green Jobs Training Collaborative
The Friendly House/APS "Integrated Green Jobs Training Collaborative," under the leadership of the Friendly House's Adult Education and Workforce Development Department, will provide a fast track to training and employment in the green jobs sector. The Integrated Green Jobs Training Collaborative will ensure that other local nonprofit organizations, education and training providers, labor organizations, and green job employers have access to quality adult education and case management services to prepare a skilled workforce to meet their current and future needs in the green job sector.
Responding to the national and regional projections for the Green Job Industry needs,
the Integrated Green Jobs Training Collaborative will:
- Identify and prepare individuals through the Green Jobs Academy by providing
remedial education, occupational training, and career counseling in order to
place program participants into Green Job occupations.
- Identify and prepare individuals through the Green Jobs Academy by providing
remedial education, occupational training, and career counseling in order to
place program participants into Green Job occupations.
Preparation for a successful experience begins with the Green Jobs Academy. The
Academy provides student support and academic services for all participants entering
the Integrated Green Jobs Training Collaborative. Participants will have access to
assessment, advising, counseling, orientation, tutoring, remedial education, and career
services that are customized to green job training and education.
The Maricopa Community College District, primarily Gateway Community College, and
Maricopa Skill Center will provide Green Job Occupational training. Green Jobs trainings
that are targeted through the collaborative include certified:
- Solar PV Installer,
- Inside Wireman/Electrician,
- Inside Wireman/Electrician,
- Energy Auditor,
- And other targeted jobs in the energy efficient building, construction, retrofit
industry.
Upon completion of training, a Business Representative will assist program participants
in job search activities, placement into apprenticeship programs and job placement.
Follow-up services are carried-out by a case manager up to 12 months after placement.
