Gifts of Cash
Outright gifts by personal check, cash or credit card are an immediate way to support the programs and services Friendly House offers, and qualify for a fully tax deductible donation.
Tribute Gifts
Gifts of honor or in memory of a loved one are contributions made as a tribute to loved ones or special people in one’s life. These gifts offer a wonderful way to carry on the memory of a loved one or recognize a birthday, anniversary, retirement or any special occasion. Tribute gifts are acknowledged to the family or individual. The amount of your gift is confidential.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Appreciated, publicly traded securities, when contributed, may help you avoid long-term capital gains while earning a tax deduction. When you itemize your deductions, you are entitled to receive a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the stock at the time that you gave it.
Matching Gifts
Matching gifts are an excellent way to increase the value of your own gift by utilizing the matching gift program of your company. Obtain the matching gift form from your company and submit it with your gift.
Planned Gifts
Planned gifts provide a way for you to balance your family’s assets and fulfill your charitable intentions. Planned gifts include naming a charity in your bequest; charitable remainder trusts; charitable gift annuities; life insurance; real estate, designating a charity as beneficiary of your retirement plan.
Friendly House encourages you to consult the advice of your financial advisor, attorney, or accountant when considering a planned gift.
Non-Designated Gifts
Friendly House determines where the gift will be designated based on the greatest need.

Educational Tax Credit
Making a contribution to receive your Arizona Public Education Tax Credit is simple. Download the Academia del Pueblo Extracurricular Tax Credit brochure. Print the brochure and fill out the response card, writing in the dollar amount, up to $200 (or $400 per married couple), that you want to contribute.
- Indicate the school you would like to support. Make the check payable to that school, i.e., Academia del Pueblo. You may also make your donation on-line:

- Check the box of an activity category you want to fund. If you’d like to support all activities at the school just check the “Any Extracurricular Activity” box.
- Fill in your name and address.
- Drop off the form and your check at your local school office and pick up your receipt. If you prefer, you can mail the check to the school. Your tax credit receipt will be mailed directly to you.
- You can take a dollar-for-dollar reduction on your Arizona State taxes (or receive an addition to your refund) for that same year. A donation can also reduce your taxable income for your federal tax return.
Donations deadline
Mailed-in donations must be postmarked by December 31 or made on-line by December 31 to receive the tax credit for current year. For additional information, call the development office at 602.416.7248.
Tell me more
Arizona tax law (ARS 43-1089.01) allows taxpayers a credit for contributions made or fees paid to a public school for support of extracurricular activities or character education (as defined in ARS 15-719). The credit is equal to the amount contributed or the amount of fees paid. However, the credit cannot exceed $200 for single taxpayers or heads of household. For married taxpayers who file a joint return, the credit cannot exceed $400. If married taxpayers file separate returns, each spouse may claim 1/2 of the credit that would have been allowed on a joint return.
Extracurricular activities such as sports, band, speech and debate or overnight field trips are generally not fully funded by school districts. These programs depend on fees from students. Download the brochure to read about this valuable program and how you can participate. The Arizona Department of Revenue has additional information. Donations must be postmarked by midnight December 31 to be eligible for the current year.
