

Family Services/Counseling
Family Services provides in-home parent aide and counseling services. In office, services provided are social services and crisis counseling in either English or Spanish.
Contracted through the Department of Economic Security, Division of Children, Youth and Families, the parent aide program provides referred parents with training and instruction in childcare, behavior management, child development, household management and appropriate non-violent parent-child interactions. A family support specialist serves as a role model and also provides training for the parents in the home or at a designated location.
In-home counseling services are also funded by the Department of Economic Security, Division of Children Youth and Families. This program provides counseling to individuals and families that are dealing with problems such as substance abuse, suicide, domestic violence, depression, and physical or sexual abuse.
Crisis counseling provides individuals and families requiring immediate behavioral health attention. Clients served in this program are dealing with problems such as sexual abuse, anxiety, adjustment, marital and relationship issues, parent and child issues and other problems as well.
Social services assists individuals and families to access needed services that have been identified by the individual or family and a social service worker. Assistance includes emergency food boxes, utilities, rent or living expenses. Friendly House also advocates for individuals or families dealing with government agencies in administrative, psychological, and legal matters. Assistance and referrals are provided for clients in need of counseling or parent training. Clients are also referred to other community agencies for services such as medical, education and job search.
